Name: Mary C. Casey Date: May 25th, 1924 - August 21st, 2012 Obituary: Albany-Mary C. Casey, 88, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine Kelly Casey. Mary was a graduate of Cathedral Academy in 1942 and began her career with the National Commercial Bank and Trust Company (Key Bank) in 1944 as a file clerk. She retired 42 years later as Senior Vice President and Corporate Secretary. Starting in banking with only a high school diploma, Mary took advantage of many banking and management courses available to her through the American Institute of Banking, Russell Sage College and RPI. During her career she was the bank’s first female head teller and later the first female manager of the cash department. In 1968 she became the first female vice president in operations and later the first female first vice president in branch administration. To enhance her education in 1969 she became the first woman in NYS to attend the NYS Bankers Executive Development Program held at West Point. Her male classmates elected her class president, again…the first female to hold that position. Mary enjoyed traveling, driving her Cadillac cars and rooting for her favorite football team, Notre Dame. She is survived by four nephews, Brian T. Casey (Sandi), Stephen J. Casey (Diane), Michael J. Casey (Russell) and James P. Casey (Cyndie); great aunt of Vikki Ahmed (Feryan), Thomas Casey (Jackie) and Cori Lynn Tarbay (Michael); several great grandnephews, great grandnieces and cousins survive. Funeral services Friday, August 24, 2012 at 8:15 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to St. Clare’s Church at 9:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, August 23, 2012 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
