Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Nunzio and Rocca Puntilla Giagni. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Hughes, Sr in September of 1980. Mother of Nunzio Hughes (Marjorie) and the late Robert C. Hughes, Jr (Charlotte) and David A. Hughes; mother in law of Lorraine Hughes; grandmother of Laurie Haston (James), Stacey Hughes, Deborah Milavec, Linda Podlaski (Anthony), Robert C. Hughes III (Catherine), Karen Hughes-Adkins, Carrie Porcaro; sister of the late Danny, Vincent, Anthony “Murph”, Benny Giagni, and Grace Capizzio; eleven great grandchildren survive Mary.
