Obituary:
Albany-Shirley Kelley Hein, 85, of Guilderland, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Albany St. in Albany to the late Anna Mae Kelley and Joseph F. Kelley. She graduated from The Vincentian Institute (VI) in 1942. At VI she was a champion equestrian. She served with the American Red Cross during World War II as a volunteer. She married Paul J. Hein of Albany in 1945 and lived in Albany on Sycamore St. and in Guilderland on Maywood Ave. She worked as a homemaker and for the New York State Departments of Education and Health and the University at Albany, School of Criminal Justice. She was active in the Knights of Columbus, the Albany Elks and AARP.
She was a communicant of St Madeleine Sophie’s Church for 44 years. Before that she was a communicant of St. Teresa of Avila Church.

She is survived by three children, Joseph Hein and his wife Gail of Altamont, Paul Hein and his wife Joanne of Saratoga Springs, and Anne Barker and her husband Timothy of Guilderland. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Ryan and Conor Donnelly, Tara Brown, Kelley, Jillian, and Molly Barker, Christopher Hein, and Michelle and Kurt Matejka. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Paul Hein, her daughter Mary Ellen Donnelly, her sister, Marjorie Sullivan and her grandson, Christopher Donnelly.
Funeral services Monday, March 8, 2010 at 9:00 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to St. Madeleine Sophie Church at 10:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday, March 7, 2010 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home.

Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
