Name: Mary Elizabeth McArdle Date: April 25th, 1912 - March 3rd, 2010 Obituary: Albany-Mary Elizabeth McArdle, a devoted and beloved wife and mother, 97, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at home with her family at her side. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Edward P. McCormack and Anna Cahill McCormack. Mary Elizabeth was a graduate of Miss Quinn’s School, Academy of the Holy Names, and in 1934 The College of St. Rose. She taught for a brief time at Hackett Jr. High School. She was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed mystery novels. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vincent J. McArdle, Sr in October of 1989. She was the beloved mother of Anne R. DeSormeau (Gary) of Cobleskill, Vincent J. McArdle Jr (Kathleen) of Albany, Terrence E. McArdle of Albany and the late Brian Patrick McArdle; cherished grandmother of Amy Connors, Joseph DeSormeau (Jessica), Michael McArdle and Brian McArdle; great grandmother of Liam Connors, Christopher and Abigail DeSormeau; sister of Peggy Ann Mathiesen (Christian) and the late Alice Cooke (Lawrence H.); many nieces and nephews survive. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who allowed them to keep their mother at home, as well as the nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital. Funeral services Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 8:15 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church) at 9:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
