Harold G. Anderson, Jr., 83, died suddenly Sunday, February 21, 2010. Born in Albany, NY, April 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Harold G. Anderson and Lillian Briare Anderson.
He was a graduate of Albany schools and Christian Brothers Academy. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, and served proudly in the South Pacific. With his military service complete, he returned to civilian life and attended Cornell University.
Andy began employment in the family business, H.G. Anderson Equipment Corporation, in Albany and in Burlington, VT. He enjoyed so much the contacts he made in business.
He had wonderful memories of spending his youth and his early married life at his family’s summer home on Big Bowman Lake in Taborton, NY. There he enjoyed fishing, boating and many hours with family and friends.
Andy’s happiness also extended to Vermont where the warmth and kindness of friends there gave him such joy. In that quiet atmosphere, he was able to enjoy the countryside, and the lake and mountains so dear to him.
He was an avid sports fan and loved watching NY Giants and Notre Dame football games in addition to his beloved Yankees, especially in his later years when he was unable to leave his apartment.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth Anderson, and her mother, Charlotte, his sister, Merle A. Jones and his niece and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen.
The family would like to thank Dr. Roberta Miller, Laurie Cavanagh, Gary Schwartz and others from St. Peter’s Home Healthcare for the wonderful care and support they gave Andy through the last years of his life.
