Annandale, VA-Charles J. Nardiello, 84, of Annandale, VA, passed away on January 22, 2010.
Charlie was born in Albany, NY on Feb. 16, 1925. He lived and went to school there until he joined the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He then received his Bachelors degree in Economics from Siena College and later a Masters degree in Education. After that he met his wife, Mary (Cervera), who has been his loving partner for the past 58 years. Charlie was employed at the Schenectady Army Depot until he moved to Northern Virginia in 1964, to work at the Pentagon for the Department of Defense. He retired in 1981. After retirement, he taught for 5 years with Fairfax County Public Schools.
Charlie was involved in numerous civic and professional organizations, including NARFE, the Stone Haven Civic Association, the Italian Heritage Lodge, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed poker, the Redskins, and most recently, wine making. We will all miss his generosity and kindness. Charlie was passionate about his Italian heritage, but that paled in comparison to his love of family. He was proud of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments, hoping to have seen more.
Mr. Nardiello was predeceased by his parents, Charles & Rose(Lombardo) Nardiello, and brother, Anthony Nardiello.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Charlene (Rich) Grochmal and Linda (Dave) Maxfield; sister, Jean (Jack) Northcutt; grandchildren, Lauren, Chrissy, Becky and Stephanie; as well as several nieces and nephews.
